Branching out into new ideas—no matter what your art form may be—is something I deeply believe in. Not only is it fun, but I’ve found it expands my creative thinking by leaps and bounds.
This week I’ve been exploring encaustics. In the past, I’ve used encaustic techniques on flat canvas, but I had never applied them to sculpture… until now.
It turned out to be an incredible process. I began by sketching my initial vision, then worked to transform that 2D idea into a three-dimensional piece.
Encaustic work primarily involves wax, color pigments, and a variety of materials—really, an endless array of possibilities—to create rich texture and depth.
